Deborah Azzopardi and Janis & Mitch Winehouse Meet & Greet | Thursday 19th January from 6 – 7.30 pm

Please join Janis & Mitch Winehouse and Deborah Azzopardi for a Meet & Greet and to see the new work ‘LOVE IS THE ANSWER….’, by Deborah Azzopardi. The event will take place at The London Art Fair, on Thursday 19th January, 6-7.30pm at The Cynthia Corbett Gallery, Stand G1.

Amy Winehouse is the subject of Pop Artist Deborah Azzopardi’s latest work, created at the request of Mitch and Janis Winehouse as a tribute to their daughter. In creating this work, Deborah Azzopardi has merged the icon of Amy Winehouse into one of her most iconic images, ‘SSHH…’.

Deborah comments: “Sometimes we need to rest, pause, and just breathe, eyes closed,  and take time out. A moment of silence whilst continuously sharing love.”

The limited edition screen-print has been signed by the artist, Mitch Winehouse and Janis Winehouse. The signing took place at Tagsmart, who will be supplying the authentication and certifications for this edition. Each screen-print has been biometrically tagged using special technology.

We are delighted to announce that a portion of sales from the limited edition silk-screen print will benefit The Amy Winehouse Foundation, London.

“All icons leave a mark on this earth.

There never was and there never will be anyone like Amy Winehouse.

Her profound fragility as a musician left the world scarred emotionally.

As a lyricist, she was a courageous storyteller, chronicling her own experiences with love head on and did not hold back.

Her honesty was truly compelling and was, more importantly, relatable. She showed love in all its guises.

Her music taught us that Love is the answer… and inevitably is needed by us all.

Deborah Azzopardi brings her iconic ‘SSHH…’ sentiment to a reflective poised Amy Winehouse, a peaceful adulation of a truly soulful genius.”

Meet & Greet: Thursday 19th January from 6 to 7.30pm
Venue: Business Design Centre, 52 Upper Street, London N1 0QH

Start 2017 with a bit of ‘TROUBLE….’ !

Honing in on the promiscuous practices of the femme fatale, Deborah Azzopardi’s newly conceived work ‘Trouble’, tantalises the human conscience. Troubling the intellectual hegemony of Jacques Derrida and Georges Batailles,  Azzopardi’s latest seductress is a connoisseur of deferral and desire. She knows full well how to execute the delay, how to instil pleasure in the pause. All the while there’s that voice in your head: once you cross that line, there’s no going back.

Can’t wait either? See Azzopardi’s ‘Trouble….’ at London Art Fair, 18-22 January 2017. Courtesy of The Cynthia Corbett Gallery, Stand G1.

Those red hot polka dots… one, two, three.

She’s teasing me…

“Let’s talk”, she says

“Almost ready”, she says

The anticipation… four… expectation… five… exhilaration… six…

Oh but the guilt! Need I consider the implications?

Deliberately stalling… seven… primping and preening… eight…

With the suspension of a stocking and the quiver of a thigh… nine…

I know she’s Trouble…. I can’t wait… is it time?

Deborah Azzopardi | London Art Fair 2015

She’s fearless. She’s flawless. She’s careless. She’s contagious. She’s all the little things that make a big difference and are worth catching! She’s… ‘SOMETIMES UNPREDICTABLE’ listening to this miraculous song  in her red Ferrari, on her way to the London Art Fair (21-25 January 2015 at Business Design Centre, Islington), courtesy of The Cynthia Corbett Gallery, Stand G1.
