Start 2017 with a bit of 'TROUBLE....' !
Honing in on the promiscuous practices of the femme fatale, Deborah Azzopardi’s newly conceived work ‘Trouble’, tantalises the human conscience. Troubling the intellectual hegemony of Jacques Derrida and Georges Batailles, Azzopardi’s latest seductress is a connoisseur of deferral and desire. She knows full well how to execute the delay, how to instil pleasure in the pause. All the while there’s that voice in your head: once you cross that line, there’s no going back.
Can’t wait either? See Azzopardi’s 'Trouble....' at London Art Fair, 18-22 January 2017. Courtesy of The Cynthia Corbett Gallery, Stand G1.
Those red hot polka dots… one, two, three.
She’s teasing me…
“Let’s talk”, she says
“Almost ready”, she says
The anticipation... four… expectation… five… exhilaration… six...
Oh but the guilt! Need I consider the implications?
Deliberately stalling… seven… primping and preening… eight…
With the suspension of a stocking and the quiver of a thigh... nine…
I know she’s Trouble.... I can’t wait… is it time?
